For instance, decades ago a misleading argument was made. It was claimed that rich people were running for office to collect money that they then kept for themselves. It was proposed that candidates should no longer be able to use campaign contributions for personal expenses.
The result is that only people who do not need to work for a living can afford to take time off from earning to run for office. This must be changed.
